Biography:
Agnes Buya Ng’ambi Yombwe was born on 18th February 1966. She is a mixed media artist. She received an Art Teachers diploma from Evelyn Hone College in 1989. She has a certificate in Art and Design from Wimbledon School of art, London (1993).
She taught art at Libala and Matero Boys Secondary Schools in Zambia for 7 years and at in Botswana for 10 years. Agnes is a prolific and successful experimental artist who has won 10 awards both locally and abroad including first prize in print/graphics category in Artist in Botswana in 2003 and Best artwork by female artist in the Franco-COMESA Club exhibition of 2005.
She has held solo exhibitions and has also undertaken prestigious studio residencies at the Edvard Munch in Oslo Norway in 1995 and at the McColl Centre for visual Arts in North Carolina IN USA in 2002. She has exhibited in Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, Norway, United Kingdom, United States of America, Germany, and Indonesia. Her work is in private and public collections. She currently runs WayiWayi Art Studio and Gallery with her artist husband Lawrence Yombwe in Livingstone, Zambia.
