Bron in Barotseland protectorate ,Wetern Province of Zambia in 1939,stephen Kappata was a self taught painter.His fist exhibition was at Mpapa Gallery in 1986.hs works focuses on political elements from the colonial era and traditional aspects of zambian life.his subjects are always depicted in satirical graphic proflies.kappate has widely exhbibited at home and abroad.Stephen has been featured in a number of reputable international art magazines and journals including African Art.he lived and worked in Mongu and finally moved to livinstone at the time of his untimely death on the official opening of the his last solo Art exhibition held at the Henry Tayali Visual Art center in 2007
